Question For IT Folks
« on: August 28, 2011, 01:08:11 PM »
The other night, while my laptop was closed, I noticed the wireless LAN indicator and my optical mouse light up spontaneously. I opened the laptop to shut it down. When I did so I was warned that there was another user logged in and that shutting down would end this other user's session. Should I be concerned? Was someone trying to hack my shit? If so, can I find out whom and can I prevent this in the future?

Thanks.

If your wireless LAN is unsecured, then yes. You could/did have a problem... Lock that shit up!

I'm guess this is Windows XP...if so be sure your Guest account is disabled.  If you are using an account on the machine other than the admin account, make sure you have set a password on the Admin account that is not blank or password or something like that.

Also WTF are you using XP still?
