Streets Replacement
« on: August 23, 2011, 08:46:30 AM »
The Ruckus boys have taken on getting a replacement for streets and have come up with a few ideas just wanted to drop them in here.  I'm actively participating in the thread.

http://crash45denver.com/ - It's in RiNo, a biker bar but someone knows the owner and he's willing to hook us up with specials.  They have a large patio.  Downside RiNo isn't the safest hood around currently.

From D:
The Highland Tavern:
Pros:
Good parking, food, smoking patio, decent prices.
Cons:
Kind of far for some people, kind of in the hood, mostly older chicks.
http://www.highlandtavern.com/

The Walnut Room:
Pros:
Good parking, smoking patio, good prices.
Cons:
Kind of in the hood, only have pizza, hipster hangout.

Dons Club Taverm aka Dons Mixed Drinks:
Pros: Prices, heated smoking patio, good location, plenty of food around like Pho on 6th and Brothers BBQ.
Cons:
Little parking, pretty small, don't actually serve food.

And then Typhoon Billy recommended a place this weekend:
Lincoln's Roadhouse. The website is so shit so you can only imagine how dive bar the place feels. Menu looks good and I know a couple people really requested the place do both food and beer. It's pretty centrally located at Arizona and Pearl. Best of all smokers patio with tables and chairs.

Looking like it's Lincoln's Roadhouse for tomorrow night and then we will rotate out to the other ones until we find a new home.

Last I knew Lincoln's was a biker bar. The one and only time I was there(many years ago) it was pretty run down and the crowd was rough. What happens with streets?

Billy said it was a biker bar, but fun. He sometimes plays on open mic night. It is a bit down there for us but it would be fun to check it out.
Pie, Streets DJ did us a shady on Saturday night and I will NEVER STE FOOT IN THERE AGAIN!!!!!!

Julie suggested TOOEYS since it is right around the corner from Streets and we could do a DRIVE-BY ride in front of Streets every Wed.  I like that idea ALOT!

There is also the Pub On Pearl.  The manager there approached me at Mayhem wanting to get involved with LSS3 but the timing was all wrong. But he said he wanted to get the scooters in there and could probably work out some specials...

I just posted this over at TR:

I went today and had lunch at Lincoln's Roadhouse and spoke to one of the managers. The food was very good, i had a fried shrimp po-boy and while I've had much better back home in Baton Rouge this one was a good substitute. Beer selection is a bit weak on the draft side, but they said if we become regulars we could influence that. Patio is a bit small, but inside is very large. She also said they are usually pretty dead on Wednesday nights. Now for the bad news, there isn't shit for parking and she said they do not allow parking on the sidewalk...I explained to her that scooters can park on sidewalks like bikes but she didn't get it. She did say if we call and talk to the owner that they will cone off the parking in front of the building as that is what they do for the motorcycles on Sundays. I've got the owners name and number and will call him tomorrow when he is in the office and he has my name/number as well.

Here is a link to some pics I took there today: http://imgur.com/a/6PKkZ

PS - if you cannot tell I'm a fucking planner.

Also I think everyone over at DMBK agrees we need to come up with a few options try them out over the next few weeks and then have a democratic vote.  So far Lincoln's Roadhouse and Crash 45 seem to be the two in the lead to try first.

I love the idea of Tooey's and of Skylark but a couple of the DMBK boys either won't go to just a bar or are too young for just bars.  Nothing says we stay at one of these places all night we could totally do a prime the pump at one of the "Pubs" and then ride to one of the "Bars".

One thing we need to make sure about Pub on Pearl is that if we do it Wednesday nights there they won't let the Denver Cruisers there.  Looks like they are big supporters of the Denver Cruisers on their website and that's all we need is a bunch of fucking bicycle riders taking over the bar and giving us 20+ minute waits on drinks.

I would prefer not to go to Pub on Pearl.  One of the Bartenders is a GSG guy (which is why they are so hot on getting us in there IMHO) and thats a little too close for comfort for DMBK.

Good enough reason for me to count it out.

Well just got back from Crash 45. I spoke to the bartender, Justin. He said they would love for us to come out on Wednesdays as the place is pretty dead. I got the owner's, Shane, number to talk to him tomorrow. Justin said they could easily extend their happy hour specials to us, $2 PBR/$3 Blue Moon pints. He said they could probably extend some food specials to us as well. Speaking of food they are getting ready to add a vegetarian option to the menu and a few other items. I did not try the food as they only do it Wed-Sun. The Patio is large and partially covered in case of rain. Music was right on the spot, Hank Jr followed up withe some old school Rancid. On to the pictures:

This is their "Art Gallery", just a big open room in the back:

The arcade with a couch in it, room is between Art Gallery and Patio:

The Patio:

Open area of the Patio, they said we can open the gate and park some bikes in here they do it for the motorcycles:

The bar/dining area in the front, you can sit in the car:

Dining area:

Out front of it, plenty of parking:

Best way to get to the bar is go up 23rd till it turns into Park Ave West and then turn right on Globeville Rd. This was fun rode to ride as it twist and turns between the Interstate and the Railyard. Then you turn right on 45th. The bar is on the left between Grant and Logan.

When I left I forgot to ask another question and when I came back in Justin was talking to a local and expressing how awesome it would be for the scooters to come out so it was good to hear. He also said we should come out for motorcycle night as they get both sides of the street full usually and it's a really good time.

Finally, I asked about a trophy case or something and he was like hell yeah that would be awesome, what would you put in it....I said cans of SPAM of he laughed.

Looks like we are going to try Crash 45 tomorrow.  It really was a great spot, and closer for Russ and Sarah!

Since you all seem to know the bar/pub scene better than me I am game for anywhere, just let me know where to show up. Can I say somewhere with food would lean to get my vote.
