Riverside Cemetery Walking Tour of Colorado Lawmen with Mart Duggan Tombstone Unveiling

Celebrate the lives and legacy of the Colorado Lawmen buried at historic Riverside Cemetery. Join Leadville historians, history buffs and fans of Colorado's illustrious past when Leadville's famous marshall Mart Duggan finally gets a proper headstone on his grave. In 1888, Duggan was shot in the street during a dispute over a poker game. Though he lingered for four days, he would not reveal who his assailant was, instead choosing to cross over with these parting words: "I will die before I tell." And that's just what he did. Through anecdotes and stories told by his contemporaries, and a few choice words from the man himself (re-enactors), you'll learn all about the wild times of Mart Duggan. Period attire is encouraged from the 1870s to the early 1900s. Picnic baskets and blankets are also encouraged for families.
